Acorn Mentoring Project

This ongoing weekly service project connects UC Davis student mentors with youth in two under-resourced neighborhoods of Sacramento through a values-based after-school program on Tuesday afternoons. Students plan and reflect on their experiences in a planning and reflection seminar which may be taken for academic credit by fulfilling a reflective writing component.

For over ten years, Acorn has sought to introduce youth, who might not otherwise have the opportunity, to college students who serve as mentors and role models. Our UC Davis student mentors also have the opportunity to practice their skills in education and child development, learn about under-resourced communities, and generally brighten the lives of wonderful youth.
