Summer Service Trips
Every year or two we offer a Summer Service Trip to another part of the country or world. These trips are profound opportunities to learn about other people, build relationships, and do valuable, transformative service. Often we partner with the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM), an international organization that promotes service througout the world.
In the summer of 2007, CA House students joined other young adults from across northern California on a mission trip to Africa University in Mutare, Zimbabwe. We brought needed supplies and funds, built relationships, learned about Zimbabwe, did service, and deepened spiritually. Since then amazing things have come from the trip - three participants have started a nonprofit that helps orphans raise food, several have shifted their majors to include an international service element, and CA House student Andy Blalock produced a documentary that has been shown around the country and has earned him invitations to return and film more.
