The Rev. Dr. Jocelynn Hughes (she/her)
Executive Director

Jocelynn is thrilled to serve as the Executive Director at CA House!  A life-long Episcopalian, she felt called to ordination in high school, but wondered how God could use a ballerina for ministry. She found her answer as a student in campus ministry! After earning her BA in Philosophy and Religion at Goucher College, she was awarded a fellowship to enter the PhD program in Philosophy at the University of South Florida. After completing her MA and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies there, her Bishop said, “Go to seminary,” and so she headed to Yale, where she earned an M.Div.

After ordination in 2004, she served as Associate Rector for children, youth, and young adults at St. Andrew’s in Encinitas, CA. Then, in 2008, she was called to be the Lutheran Episcopal Campus Chaplain at The Belfry (right down the street from CA House!), where she served for 10 years and loved every minute of it. After stepping away from the Belfry to be a primary parent in 2018, she earned a Doctor of Ministry from Emory, focusing on Church Leadership and Community Witness. In 2020, she began serving as Rector (lead Pastor) of St. David’s Church and Preschool in San Diego.  Jocelynn is always up to talk about feminist ethics and theology – especially liberation theology – and usually has a candy stash in her office, so stop by anytime!

The Rev. Elizabeth Rand (she/her)
Interfaith Campus Minister

Elizabeth grew up in Oxford, Ohio, and attended Miami University, where her parents taught. She completed her graduate work at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and DePaul University, where she earned master’s degrees in divinity and education. Elizabeth served in congregational and community ministries as an ordained deacon and elder in the United Methodist Church. For the past two years, she has been the Campus Minister for Religious and Spiritual Diversity at Santa Clara University and launched Mosaic, a multifaith community initiative at SCU. Elizabeth is married to Tom and has two grown sons, Will and Alistair, as well as two dogs, Otto and Murry, and two cats, Belle and Desi. Elizabeth loves all things chocolate, ice cream, hiking in the woods, swimming, and singing.

Kelen Quach (she/her)
Community Coordinator

Kelen is a CA House/MLC Alumni from 2018-2019, and is returning to us as our newest Community Coordinator. She first arrived in Davis in 2017 as a transfer student at UC Davis and graduated with a BA in English (Critical Theory) and a minor in Professional Writing. 

Coming all the way from Orange County, CA, Kelen holds a passion for opening productive discussions around Asian American culture (both East and Southeast), specifically with topics surrounding immigrants, decolonizing mental wellness, the model minority myth, colorism, standards of beauty, and reconnecting with your culture (as well as boba).  She carries 3 years of social media marketing and copywriting experience at digital marketing agencies in Utah, Boston, and California; and is currently working on officializing her role as Community Coordinator. 

A city person with a preference for small town communities, Kelen loves soaking up the sun with her dog, Prince, attending local community events to celebrate LGBTQIA+ peers, the Indigenous community, as well as cultural events; traveling, reading, creating content on social media, and recharging at the Arboretum.

Chris supports the MLC lease agreements by completing repairs, coordinating maintenance of the facilities for the CA House organization and planning turn-over cleaning of the rental units at lease end.

Davis resident since 1990. Native of Idaho. Graduate of the College of Arts and Letters, University of Oregon (BA, English, 1989). 17 years experience in academic support services at UC Davis Registrar’s Office. 10+ years experience in facilities and rental management, maintenance, repair, janitorial, and grounds maintenance. Skills include: light carpentry, painting, bilingual in Spanish. Hobbies include: reading (Science Fiction, Nonfiction, History,) travel, learning languages, arts & crafts, attending theater performances, renaissance faires and comics conventions with my spouse and child.

Bookkeeper

Devika Nair is a dedicated bookkeeper specializing in nonprofit organizations, bringing attention to detail and a passion for financial stewardship to her role. With a profound love for nonprofit work, Devika is committed to ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organizations she serves. She believes in the power of community involvement and strives to support initiatives that foster positive change. In her spare time, Devika enjoys attending community gatherings, hanging out with her dogs, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
