Applying to Live at the MLC
Note: All units in the MLC have been filled for the 2021-2022 lease year. New applicants will be placed on the waiting list for the next available unit.
Rent and Utilities
The lease cycle is September 1st through August 31st, and we start accepting new applications every February. Rent is $840/month for a single or $525/month/per person for double occupancy (limited availability). We also offer a select number of affordable units. City of Davis water and trash/recycling/compost pickup, community dinners, and program services are all included in the rental fee. PG&E expenses are divided among housemates and deducted from your security deposit on a monthly basis.
Parking
Our location makes alternative transportation to campus and downtown quite possible and easy. As a commitment to our value of sustainable living we encourage all residents to utilize public transportation, as well as take part in Davis’ bike culture. There is a bus stop right in front of our Main House on Russell Blvd. We also have a 40+ capacity bike rack on-site, free for resident use. However, some on-site parking (covered and uncovered) is available for $40 a month. Residents owning a car must purchase a CA House parking space and sign a year-long parking lease; neighborhood parking is not allowed. All residents with a parking space must display a CA House permit.
Applying
Selection to be a resident is based upon verification of current student status, completion of an application including basic personal information, personal responses to essay questions, three references, and an interview. If you are selected as a resident and choose to live at the MLC you will be required to sign a Lease Agreement, and the Multifaith Living Community Agreement. Additionally, residents are expected to contribute their gifts and skills throughout the year in a Community Life Position.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until rooms are filled. If your application is approved, typical response time is 2 business days following receipt of your application to set up an interview. To learn more about the application process view our Resident Selection Criteria.
You are encouraged to come to one of our Multifaith Dinners, each Wednesday at 6:00 pm, where you can find out more about CA House and meet current residents and participants. Everyone is welcome – it’s a great way to get to know CA House. You can also view our virtual tour to learn more. Of course, don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to schedule an in-person tour, or for any questions regarding the MLC and application process. Thank you so much for your interest!
