MLC Community Life Positions

In the Resident Agreement, Multifaith Living Community (MLC) members agree to bring their gifts to the life of the community and to cherish the gifts of others. We believe that everyone has a gift to share, and when we all exercise our gifts to the best of our ability, the community is richer and stronger. One of the best ways you can get involved is through serving in a Community Life Position. As every community member shares in responsibility for building community, every MLC resident will choose a Community Life Position in which to serve during the year. Everyone from the CA House community is expected to participate.

We ask MLC residents to consider their gifts, skills, and talents and where they feel they might be called to serve. Don’t be afraid to try something you’ve never done before! If you find you don’t like the role, you can switch to a new position throughout the year. There is something for everyone. And as an added bonus, these positions will look great on your resume!

Unless otherwise specified, all positions should compose approximately 5-10 hours of service per quarter.

1. Student Leadership Positions (10) — We offer ten Student Leadership Positions at the MLC for residents interested in taking on more responsibility and contributing more time to the community. The available positions are a Community Advisor team of seven, a Social Justice Coordinator, a Sustainability Coordinator, and a Multifaith Coordinator. They receive a monthly scholarship and students must be able to commit 7-10 hours per month to the position. Click here for more information. These positions are currently full for the 2019-2020 lease year. Thank you for your interest!

2. Student Gardeners  — The Student Gardeners will maintain the CA House garden on a regular basis, plant new produce, and bring produce back to CA House to use for Wednesday night dinner, and work with the Sustainability Coordinator and Community Coordinator about available produce so that weekly cooks can plan their meal accordingly. Additionally, Student Gardeners will teach new garden volunteers as needed. No experience is necessary!
